Think Tank Photo Announces New Modular Pouches

Think Tank Photo has announced their updated Modular and Skin pouch line at the PDN Photo Plus Expo in New York.  The Modular and Skin Components have long been the standard for photojournalists, wedding and sports photographers.  Think Tank Photo has taken feedback from its professional users and made updates accordingly.  Bravo, Think Tank!

*Update Dec. 12, 2011* Think Tank Photo Modular series pouches are now available through this link!

Think Tank Modular Component Set V2 includes four of the most used pouches.

The pouches ride on a hip belt of three flavors, the Pro Speed Belt, Steroid Speed Belt, and Thin Skin Belt.  By using a hip belt, weight is taken off the shoulders, allowing a full days worth of shooting without fatigue.  The pouches can be locked in place or made free to rotate around the belt, allowing the photographer to slide the pouches around his waist as needed.

Modular Components V2

The Modular Components are padded and feature a drawstring closure for easy access.  New features include:

  • Wide mouth opening allows for smoother lens retrieval and replacement.
  • One-hand drawstring closure with the auto-locking mechanism:  only one hand is needed to securely close the pouch.
  • Zippered bottom pocket includes seam-sealed rain cover.
  • Top handle allows for easy gathering of multiple pouches.
  • Smooth back reduces wear on clothing and helps components slide easily  around the belt.
  • Padding under lens cover protects lenses from bumps and bruises.
  • Improved front pocket material for increased durability and elasticity.

Modular Components worth mentioning:

Lens Changer 35 V2 - Holds a 24-70 f/2.8 or similarly sized lens with hood in position.

Lens Changer 50 V2 - Holds a 16-35 f/2.8 or similarly sized lens with hood in position.

Lens Changer 75 Pop Down V2 - Holds a 70-200 f/2.8.  The Pop Down feature increases the pouches length by 3" allowing for a hood in position or a longer lens like the 300 f/4 IS.

Hubba Hubba Hiney - A large bag to carry multiple lenses or strobes.  Can be used on a belt or with the included shoulder strap.

Strobe Stuff - Holds a large flash, such as the Canon 580EX II.  Now features room for an external battery pack, gels, and accessories.

Skin Components V2

The Skin components are unpadded and feature a drawstring closure and a top Velcro flap.  The Skin Components also include an external zippered pocket and an internal pocket.  The Skin Components were a much newer product than the Modular Components, therefore the Skin update is minor and mainly cosmetic.

Skin Components worth mentioning:

Skin 50 V2 - Similar to the Modular 50 V2.

Skin 75 Pop Down V2 - Similar to the Modular 75 Pop Down V2.

Skin Body Bag - Holds a pro-sized body or can be configured to hold lenses or strobes.
